Providence Alaska Medical Center (PAMC), Anchorage AK

Providence Alaska Medical Center (PAMC), in collaboration with the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Survivorship Program, provides cancer survivor care and research to underserved communities in the area. Cancer survivors who are interested in taking part in the Survivorship Program can receive the same follow-up services at this convenient community-based clinic as you would at receive at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA).

The Survivorship Program offers treatment, support, and education for survivors in the years after cancer treatment. Many cancer survivors have been treated with a variety of chemotherapies and radiation. These therapies can result in some potential long lasting or late onset effects. The clinic addresses various problems you may face after therapy, including: infertility, graft vs. host disease, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and future cancer risk.

At the Anchorage Survivorship Clinic, you will be given a thorough screening and health evaluation by our medical staff, professionals who have dedicated themselves to learning about and dealing with survivorship issues. You will leave with a treatment summary that lists all of your therapy and medical information that is pertinent to your diagnosis and any possible late effects. This treatment summary will have recommendations for you and your healthcare provider to keep you as healthy and as informed as possible in the future. You may receive information on nutrition, exercise, or counseling to help you optimize your health in the years following your cancer treatment.

At the Anchorage Survivorship Clinic our medical staff can talk with you about how to manage and assess any late complications or issues you may be experiencing, and we look forward to helping optimize the years you have ahead.

Dr. Laura Schulz, a pediatric oncologist, directs the newly developed cancer Survivorship Program at PAMC in Anchorage, AK.
